Serena Williams is one of the top female tennis players in the world. Serena currently ranks World’s No. 1 according to Women’s Tennis Association’s (WTA). She is a four time Olympic gold medalist. Needless to say, she is one of the greatest female tennis players of all times.

Early Life of Serena Williams

Serena Williams was born in Michigan to Richard Williams and Oracene Williams. She is the youngest child of her parents’ five children. She is 15 months younger than her tennis pro Venus Williams. Being a tennis coach himself, sports were an ultimate passion for Richard Williams. When he saw the Romanian player Virgina Ruzici win a huge $40,000 at a tournament held in Salt Lake City, he decided that he had better mould his girls into popular tennis players. Serena is a child prodigy as she began playing tennis even before she reached kindergarten! Serena Williams and Venus played excellent tennis at a very young age. Serena’s name flashed at the top of all amateur ranks lists. By the time she was 14, she had already become a pro! She quickly became popular for her determination, influential game, and flamboyant fashion sense.

In September 1995, Serena turned professional; however, she lost her debut tennis match in Quebec at the Bell Challenge. In 2007, Serena and Jackie Long, an American television and film actor, were spotted at the beach together and out on dates. She also dated rapper Common from 2007 to 2011. She was also known to be in a close relationship with NY Knicks baller Amare Stoudemire in 2010. In 2012, she was romantically linked with her coach Patrick Mouratoglou who helped her win 16 titles in 16 months.

Serena Williams has been well known to make fashion statements via her flashy and colorful outfits. She posed in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue in 2004. She is a certified fashion designer. She has designed clothing for Nike, Puma and her own fashion line named Aneres (her name spelled backwards). She owns a small stake in the franchise of Miami Dolphins.
